Hair by J Lovell is located in the West Lakeview neighborhood at: Sola Salon Studios 3355 N. Lincoln Ave, Studio 5 Chicago, IL 60657 As a young girl, I was always interested in hair. I remember when I cut the waist-long hair on my Cher Barbie doll into a bob because I thought it looked better. Fast forward to being a young adult, my sister who is nine years younger than me was like my human Barbie doll. I was always doing something to her hair, crimping it like a punk rocker, teasing it, then I started doing updos and curls for her school dances. It never occurred to me to make doing hair a career at that time though. I went to college, got a degree in Business Marketing and worked in the business industry for over a decade. But I was always craving something more creative. I still played around with my hair at home, a “kitchen beautician” of sorts. I was every color under the sun, from blonde, to carrot-top red, to dark brown. Not all of my hair adventures turned out great, but I had so much fun doing it. I got laid off from a marketing position and it was honestly the best thing that ever happened to me, because it forced me to think about what I really wanted. I remember having a conversation with my best friend at the age of 32, I said, “I think I want to go to cosmetology school, isn’t that weird?” And she said, “No, that is exactly what you should do because it’s your passion.” I signed up for a cosmetology program shortly after that conversation and I’ve never looked back! In 2007, I graduated from Pivot Point Academy. In the few months after I graduated, I got married, moved to Chicago from the suburbs, and started my first job in a salon. It took me a few salons to find the right fit and in 2008 I found my home for the next 13 years at Fox Hair. In 2009, I became a Ouidad Certified Curly Hair Specialist and I really grew as a stylist there. It was such a rewarding experience for me, but as dreams get bigger it came time for me to take the next step in my career and in the spring of 2021 I opened my own hair studio at Sola Salons. So, I welcome you to Hair by J Lovell. It’s my dream, but you are the star! While I love doing all types of hair, I specialize in curly hair and am a Ouidad certified curly hair specialist. I also do color, including root touch-ups, highlights and balayage; and formaldehyde-free smoothing treatments. My promise to you is that I will always do what is best for you and your hair. From the hair cutting techniques I do, to the color line I use and the products I recommend, it's all about you. So come on in, have a seat and relax. I can’t wait to see you!Business Hours

Cancellation Policy
I kindly ask for a 48 hour notice for cancellations and rescheduled appointments. No shows and cancelled or rescheduled appointments within 48 hours of your appointment will be subject to a 50% service fee. If you are more than 15 minutes late this may also result in a cancelled appointment and service charge. Some exceptions apply, I know emergencies happen, so please contact me.
